twenty one pilots

I remember watching MTV back in 2015/2016 and seeing the music video for stressed out being played a lot. I was never overly interested it, but it was catchy enough that I didn’t switch over and there was a something to it that made me want to listen to their album a little more. I didn’t, and I moved on with my life.

Fast forward to 2026 and I’m mindlessly scrolling TikTok, my feed isn’t the happiest place in the world and is often filled with videos about grief, particularly in relation to the grief associated with losing a dog. There are certain songs which grow in popularity for these videos, and there was one about a ‘drag path’. I heard it enough, and it had enough emotion in the track, for me to investigate a little further and I found out that it was also by twenty one pilots. My mind went back to 2015 and remembered stressed out. My interest piqued once again, did some research, and learned that ‘drag path’ is essentially the epilogue of a story which started in 2015 and ended in 2025, called ‘Dema’.

From that discovery, I’ve dived heard first into the albums that cover this story, and am still listening, reading, and learning more about this story and the themes that they cover in their music. I wish that I had joined the journey in 2015, but better late than never! They’re two incredibly talented individuals and I’m falling more in love with their music with each listen.
